Beneath The Olive Tree tells the story of secret diaries that were found buried beneath an olive tree on the Greek island of Trikeri which served as a concentration camp after WWII. The diaries, written in secrecy by political exiles, reveal the remarkable and inspirational stories of thousands of women kept in various concentration camps across Greece and expose the important role the US and British governments played in maintaining these camps. Director Stavroula Toska makes the journey from New York to Greece to shed light on a part of modern women's history the world knows very little about and in the process discovers an earth-shattering family secret.
