This movie examines a topic that is unfortunately all too common in the U. S. of A., a sad and tragic story of how one deals with tremendous tragedy and grief. The event of a mass shooting at a University leave Bill and Kate (Michael Sheen and Maria Bello) devastated as the culprit is their son. I like how this film takes us on a journey with husband and wife, not on the best of relationships as the film opens. With their lives exposed by the outrageous mass killing and their son's suicide, the bottom is pulled from under them trying to find any means possible to fully comprehend why this has happened. The film will break your heart as it veritably becomes a powerful reminder of the evil of the gun, how we raise our children and ultimately the understanding of a married couple's dynamic. Become invested in this all too real premise and it will move you mightily. It's all jolting as if we have just learned of another American mass killing via CNN or any news outlet. (Seen on DVD, Novemner 2018).

Beautifully acted tragic story. If you're looking for entertainment value, this is not the movie for you, however. As this is an intensely emotional movie, it requires the watcher to become emotionally invested in the characters. If you watch it this way, you won't be disappointed.

When a crazed shooter kills faculty and classmates at a college and you learn that he is your own son. How does one cope with this? Very good film where emotions are raw.

This is a very moving film, especially due to Michael Sheen's performance. Maria Bello is consistently strong. The movie brings to mind Polytechnique, or more specifically, Marc Lépine's mother. However, Marc Lépine's family had a more troubled history than the characters in this film. It's crucial for parents who lose a child to suicide or violent acts to understand that they are not automatically to blame. The child's personality significantly influences their development. Michael Sheen deserves an Oscar in 2012.

Nothing happens in the movie. The first 5 minutes is filled with all the action. And don't even get [me] started on the ending. People in the movie theater even laughed at the ending.

Tragic story told through a different perspective... very powerful and moving... but be prepared with kleenex!

Powerful acting. A little morbid of a storyline but somehow the movie got under my skin for 2 days now, I guess that means it was a powerful movie. Probably will be nominated. Not a Hollywood blockbuster but powerful acting with strong subject matter.

This is a very moving film that explores a topic from a new perspective. The actors give magnificent and authentic performances, conveying a wide range of emotions on screen. The film tackles a challenging subject matter, and I felt it was handled well. It compels the audience to grapple with complex, thorny questions where there are no clear-cut right or wrong answers. I thoroughly enjoyed this thought-provoking film.

Good movie but be prepared for a heavy heart to go with the heavy subject matter.
