For Karen Williams, having children was never a problem, but raising them soon became one. Recently widowed, she is already struggling to support two children, and has just given birth to a third, Sophie, fathered by her married lover Jim Falch. The lives of the two women collide when Bianca, desperate to replace the child she lost, fakes her pregnancy and abducts Sophie to pass off as her own. When the FBI is called in to investigate, the young mother becomes the main suspect and is accused of murder. With nowhere to turn for help, Karen struggles to prove her innocence and fights for her baby.
