11-year-old Alice McKinley has just moved to a suburb of Washington, D.C. with her father, Ben, and her 17 year old brother, Lester.

Her mother died six years ago and as the 'new girl' in school, Alice's life is full of anxiety, awkward moments and overwhelming challenges. Her Mom died six years ago but Alice needs her more than ever now.
