Alex (Donald Sutherland) has just written and directed a fabulously successful, critically acclaimed motion picture. But what does he do next? Everyone has a suggestion. Alex has his own ideas, but he can't decide. And so he lives in a world that's half dream and half reality, trying to find the subject matter for his next film.
