Adam's Rib

A married couple, Adam and Amanda Bonner, both work as attorneys and find themselves representing opposite sides of a legal case. Adam Bonner, (Spencer Tracy), views the case as straightforward: a woman (Judy Holliday), has been arrested for attempting to kill her husband after catching him with his mistress. However, Amanda Bonner (Katharine Hepburn) argues that the woman's actions could be seen as justifiable attempted homicide if the roles were reversed and the husband had caught his wife in an affair.
