Set a century after the original events, a Buddhist abbot, Bai Yun (Shun Lau), and his disciple, Fong (Tony Chiu Wai Leung), travel through a small town to deliver a golden Buddha idol. Their mission is disrupted by local thieves, forcing them to seek refuge at the haunted Orchid Temple. There, Fong meets Lotus (Joey Wang), a ghost bound to the malevolent Tree Devil (Siu-Ming Lau). As a forbidden romance blossoms between Fong and Lotus, her sinister sister, Butterfly (Nina Li Chi), risks revealing their secret to the Tree Devil. Meanwhile, Bai Yun remains determined to put an end to the demon's terror.
