A Chinese Ghost Story

Ning Tsai-Shen, a modest tax collector, finds himself in a small town with nowhere to stay after being turned away by the locals. Forced to spend the night in the eerie Lan Ro temple, he crosses paths with Yen Che-Hsia, a Taoist swordsman who cautions him against meddling in dangerous affairs. Amidst the temple's haunting atmosphere, Ning encounters Nieh Hsiao-Tsing, a captivating figure who captures his heart. However, Hsiao-Tsing is revealed to be a ghost, eternally enslaved by a malevolent tree spirit with a sinister, life-draining tongue that ensnares its prey, binding them to a fate of endless torment.
