"The Time, The Place and The Girl" is the sort of musical comedy that never once hits the right tone. It's all an empty marvel from Warner Brothers released in 1946 when audiences obviously would swallow just about anything. The plot, whatever plot there is, is total nonsense; the writing is nothing but sugar water passing for a script; the performances from Dennis Morgan, Jack Carson, Janis Paige and Alan Hale may be viewed by some as cute but are "dumb as hell" characters of a one dimensional nature.

The film looks great with its radiant technicolour but is nothing but an empty shell passing for a film. The musical numbers of the feature are rather forgettable dance routines and a slew of songs that make no impression whatever - with the exception of one tune whose title I can't even remember amidst all the mediocrity.

A total routine, by the numbers 1940's musical that never makes the grade either as good film or a good musical.
