In the vein of Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid, Plunkett and Macleane tells the true story of England's most feared highwaymen who embarked on a high-staked crime spree that terrorized aristocratic London in the 18th Century. Told with great energy, comedy and invention, Plunkett and Macleane is at heart a buddy picture that traces the ups and downs of a relationship between two charismatic men who became legends in their own lifetime. It also charts how Macleane's love for lady Rebecca, one of their initial victims, very nearly costs them their lives.
