M Night redeems himself from silly (the Village) or pointless (the Happening) plots with this film. Since he wrote and co-produced it, I was ready for a flop. Devil chugs along a full speed, tosses in lots of red herrings, the ending makes great sense in light of all we learn. Acting is above par for a horror film, and I love the devil him/her/it self. The editing and decoupage in the elevator are very smart, as is the sound editing. I have an issue about the appearance of a walkie talkie, but I can almost forgive that.
